I believe that the purpose of a college education is to become more knowledgeable of the world we live in. A college education also helps us to learn about other points of views and cultures which are different from our own.

I think that being educated means to be knowledgeable of the world and culture around us. We should then be able to use this knowledge to help ourselves improve and to help ourselves and to gain more knowledge.

My experience with different education systems has led me to this belief. As a child I grew up in private Catholic school education systems. I remained in private Catholic schools until college. As I grew older, I noticed that we were taught different things, more complex things. The expectation of a student as they progress through any education system is that they should always be ready for the next "level" of education. I began to get a sense of the "system" and how it worked. I realized that other students had such a grasp on the "system" that they could manipulate it. This manipulation usually involved doing the bear-minimum to pass a class. This led me to realized that the world I live in is full of "systems". Such as, why certain things are shown at certain times on the television, and what time I should turn on the television or what time I should set the VCR to record in order to watch my favorite shows. I believe that to be educated is to have a grasp of these "systems" and to be able to use them to one's advantage.
